Content Is Always King

Posted by Y.B. Masdal on Mar 29 2008 | Blogging Tips, Blogs

orngewww10kmarshmallowscom.jpegI know. This topic had been blogged by many countless times already, perhaps million times to date.

But I just got to reiterate this. SEO have tried and experimented on what other factors that could lead those traffic stats up the roof. They experimented on linkages, on tags, on networking habit, on rss feeds and yet, almost all of them always point out to the very main thing that could mainly drive your blog towards the success it is aimed for.

Content is the most important of all. If one has good content, or if possible, very good content, then this is the only way to go.

Hone those writing skills. Do research and always have that nose for good topics. Write about what’s most recent and most current. Old issues are never a pleasurable thing to read and browse at.

Be smart and funny. Blog readers always want to laugh and be humored almost all the time, aside from being informed through well-researched topics.

Write or not write at all. If you have deficiency in writing skills, you got to do all your best to learn writing. Practice at home and emulate the writing skill of those who are successful in blogging. Practice make perfect, you know.

So always do not forget—Content Is King.

My Idea of What Blogging is

Posted by Criselda on Mar 25 2008 | Blogging Tips, Blogging Tutorials, Writing

Blogs are more than just online journals or online topic posts. It’s a lifestyle! As blogs link themselves with one another, a community is formed and life on cyberspace is made even more dynamic. Blogs encourage confidence in communication as well as in writing, which is why blogs are made and maintained by a variety of people and not only by the techie and the geeky. Everyone is impassioned to blog! Now It comes to Personal Blogging or on having your own personal blog.

Having a personal blog is a wonderful thing as you won’t get hassled in what topic you choose and what article you would post, everything is under your control and under your mercy. On your own blog you can post whatever it is you want to post, and whatever you say on your blog is right. Because after all you are the master of your own blog. Having your own blog is good because it can be your “cache” for ideas, weird or otherwise, experiences

Sometimes I get so tired that I’d stop blogging, but there are times when I can’t stop blogging, now there also comes a time when there’s nothing going on my mind I’d just stare on my monitor for hours…

So start your own blog and see the wonders it can do to you!

Blogsome Is A Good Blog Module

Posted by Y.B. Masdal on Mar 23 2008 | Blogging Tips, Blogs

blogsomer.gifOf course, any new blogger would always want to have their blogs on popular blogging modules like Blogger and Wordpress.org. Or even other lesser known sites like Blogit and Xanga.

But there is one blogging module that I have been using for long despite that it is not so known in the blogging field, like I thought it should be, and I find it the most desirable and recommendable for those who are looking for free blog hosting.

Blogsome is not that popular because for one, Wordpress does not include them as one of the blogging modules from which one could import their files. What a shame. And it’s so bad that a very efficient blogging module like Blogsome is just being disregarded. Perhaps it is just new and not yet as widely used but recent studies have shown it to be the fastest growing free blog hosting of all.

Consider this, it is the only free blog hosting that allows you to use unlimited Wordpress themes through porting and allows the user great leeway in customization, with no extra fee. And the blogs there are fast-loading unlike Blogger and Wordpress.org sites, where one needs a high-speed connection in order to enjoy them.

Try Blogsome. It’s the way to go.

My Take on Blogging

Posted by Criselda on Mar 17 2008 | Blogging Tips, Blogging Tutorials

Communicating Your Ideas Through Blogs

Blogging is both an endeavor of creativity and communication. Communication as we know it, can be defined in a very broad sense involves not only written (blogs) and oral speech (podcasts), but also music, the pictorial arts(photo-blogs), audio-video, and in fact all human behavior, and yes it can even be relating our point of view on a certain thing, an idea or our wants. That’s why blogs are so important and popular today because it gives people an outlet of their emotions and thoughts. Yes, we know that some are better at communicating to their ideas to others, while some are not, but that doesn’t mean that blogs are limited to those who can communicate better. Blogs are for everyone, it just takes practice and an idea to get the ball rolling

Blogs are for everyone, given a chance to excel in online communication and also offline or “real-world” communication it can be a better place in cyberspace, when everyone even the little blogs has a chance to speak their mind.
Some people blog their original works while others blog about their thoughts on everyday things. Indeed, blogging has also entertained the idea of artistry, seeing the continuing sophistication of site layouts and themes. Blogging, ultimately, puts together people of all groups, ages, interests, and locations by talking about hobbies, relationships, ideas, and businesses.

Blogging is often taken as informal writing. While this may be true, it does not mean that it is okay for a blogger to disregard writing rules. Blogging IS Writing… Creativity is the key… Creativity is the Cure… Blogging Creativity. This article, is a good marker to explain the purpose of this blog, my blog, the QuickStop Project, this is the repository of my ideas and emotions as personal blog. This blog is the mirror of who I am, well, not the real extent of who I am. :D

I was explaining that blogging is the same as communicating, since we are social beings blogging is not that hard putting our thought into written form, blogs are an “as-is” written form of our thoughts the way we speak with our friends, the way we converse with people… just write whatever it is on your mind. If there be any typos and grammatical errors well it’s part of life and our quest to better ourselves.

No Blog is an Island

Posted by Criselda on Mar 13 2008 | Blogging Tips, Blogging Tutorials, Writing

Yes it’s true, No blog is an island link, link, link people it’s the best way. But when Linking you have to do it the right way. Just like what Guru taught us on Smart Link Practices. Now, that’s a start also we can start expanding our blog empire or our blog circle of friends by Making a linkable content,

Being linkable has it perks, as this will improve your incoming links and link popularity by writing “hot” topics, controversial topics, great news.

also apart from making linkable content is Looking for Relevant articles and linking to them.

Linking is a great way to establish a good relationship with the bloggers and also gives your readers more information by sharing the relevant link that you connect on your post.

Another Thing Would Be Learning How to link and (Trackback). Now, What is Trackback?

A trackback is a system that notifies a blogger that one of his posts is being linked by the blog that sent him the trackback and vice versa. It is a very neat way of automatically letting people know you’ve mentioned them or quoted them on your blog—that you exist.

And Yes making friends online is the same as making friends in real-life. So don’t forget your friends. Make friends online, join the blogosphere plus it gives you ideas for blog posts and even blogger the share the same ideas as you and even write/blog like you. We all know that it’s human nature to be friendly, to be with our peers. No man is an Island, and so goes the same for our blogs, No blog is an island.

What it Takes to be a Passionate Blogger

Posted by Criselda on Mar 10 2008 | Blogging Tips, Writing

Do you have what it Takes to be a Passionate blogger?

Jimmy’s post woke me up… on his post he asked these questions… that made me think…

How passionate are you about writing for your blogs? Do you wait with anticipation for the time when you have to write your next post? Do you smile like an idiot when you are doing something else and you think of something to write in your blog?
Or do you merely go about it like every other mundane task in your life? Does it take you forever to find that breath of inspiration?

I love blogging, and yes, I always think of what I would post next but I also cherish the time while I’m posting an article. If were passionate about blogging inspirations are very easy to come by. Being Passionate is focusing all your energy on what you are doing and actually enjoying it at the same time.

One thing that I can tell you is this – you have to be passionate about your writing in order to elicit that same feeling from your readers. Imagine this: if you feel like your blog writing is merely a chore that has to be done, the chances are that your readers will be able to feel that tone in your writing.

On the other hand, if you have this certain element of excitement, of passion, for your writing, then your readers wouldn’t be able to help but feel that emotion as well.

In Jaren’s post about blogging for personal satisfaction or monetary gain, he made a point that you have to blog about something that you like. Otherwise, you come up with a post that is merely “okay.” I totally agree with this point. However, I believe that you can still come up with great posts even if you are not that “into” a topic.

The passion is in the writing process, too, not merely in writing about something you already like.

“it takes anyone to write a blog… but it takes a lot of skill and “weirdness” to write the good ones…” although it may not be skill it usually just needs determination, passion and a good command of your writing skill to be able to blog good.

Blogging and Writing mesh well together after all they’re the same If you can write, you can blog too… but it doesn’t mean you have to be a writer to be blogger. You just need determination, the inspiration, the will to blog, and the passion.

The Two Sides of Blogging

Posted by Criselda on Mar 06 2008 | Blogs

Blogging for personal satisfaction or blogging for monetary gain.

There are two sides to blogging, and that is blogging for personal gain - as a hobby, or just having fun - and the other is blogging for money.

We all know the joys of blogging and as well getting paid for it, but sometimes blogging or writing articles sometimes maybe a bit hard when you’re not into that subject, or the topic is not in your personal interest. I know, I experience these quite often especially when I’m being asked to blog about a topic I absolutely have no interest in.

Blogging for money can sometimes take its toll, being asked to blog about a subject or topic you aren’t familiar with. As with that experience you get stressed as your deadline grows near, you start to lose focus, and just stare idly at the monitor at worst case it leads to having a “writer’s block”, I usually experience the emotions and when I experience a writer’s block I feel it’s the “Great Wall of China” of writer’s block.

In blogging for money, you create posts that are “okay”, but when you blog passionately about a subject you produce a great post. Not to mention the satisfaction you get from writing something you are absolutely passionate about.

It’s good that you choose to blog about what you like. That means you are in control in choosing topics you want to talk about. And you’ll have no problems if you find the topic you chose is difficult: you can always change it. However, when blogging for money, you are assigned to write about certain topics, and you cannot choose. Mostly you can easily do the tasks and get on with it, but there will be times you have to wrack your brains for something to write about.

About Trackbacks

Posted by Criselda on Mar 03 2008 | Blogging Tutorials

Trackbacks, Pingbacks : What are they? Whenever I see them or hear them I usually nod my head in approval, and just brush it off, as if I know them and it’s not a big deal. but when it all boils down is I don’t really understand what’s their purpose. Until recently…

My Wordpress Blog gives me an option to use trackbacks and pingbacks.

Well Simply… trackbacks and pingbacks allow us to notify other blogs that our post is related to one of theirs. Then if the other blog, has trackbacks or pingbacks enabled, it will add a link to our article below the post which is related. If you want them to link back to you, because both of your post are related then you could use Trackbacks to your advantage use their trackback uri so that you can place it in the TrackBack URI blank in your /wp-admin “Write Post” Section ( its usually dwon below) And those with enabled trackback will receive it. And can place a link to your article with an excerpt.

Pingbacks is much simpler to use and more secure. just check the “allow pings” and just put the links that you want to ping on your post. Wordpress will do this automatically if you checked the “allow pings” option. If those blogs the you’ve link to on your post have pingbacks enabled it will add a simple link to your site below their post.

But as we all know trackbacks are done manually and preferably we should use a simpler and more secure pingback, plus all we have to do is put the link in our blog for the pingback to work.

Doing an Experiment on Pingbacks you can Test the to see If they’re working…
We can test if the pingbacks are working by linking to me and providing a link to this post from your blog!
