About Trackbacks
Trackbacks, Pingbacks : What are they? Whenever I see them or hear them I usually nod my head in approval, and just brush it off, as if I know them and it’s not a big deal. but when it all boils down is I don’t really understand what’s their purpose. Until recently…
My WordPress Blog gives me an option to use trackbacks and pingbacks.
Well Simply… trackbacks and pingbacks allow us to notify other blogs that our post is related to one of theirs. Then if the other blog, has trackbacks or pingbacks enabled, it will add a link to our article below the post which is related. If you want them to link back to you, because both of your post are related then you could use Trackbacks to your advantage use their trackback uri so that you can place it in the TrackBack URI blank in your /wp-admin “Write Post” Section ( its usually dwon below) And those with enabled trackback will receive it. And can place a link to your article with an excerpt.
Pingbacks is much simpler to use and more secure. just check the “allow pings” and just put the links that you want to ping on your post. WordPress will do this automatically if you checked the “allow pings” option. If those blogs the you’ve link to on your post have pingbacks enabled it will add a simple link to your site below their post.
But as we all know trackbacks are done manually and preferably we should use a simpler and more secure pingback, plus all we have to do is put the link in our blog for the pingback to work.
Doing an Experiment on Pingbacks you can Test the to see If they’re working…
We can test if the pingbacks are working by linking to me and providing a link to this post from your blog!
